The photograph shows a painted headscarf, "Friendship of Nations" by Antonina Ivanova, on which figures symbolising various ethnic groups living in the USSR are reproduced in a circle (the Ukrainian-language inscription in simple pencil under the photograph reads "Ivanova A.M. Headscarf 'Friendship of Nations' 1960 Moscow"). However, shifting the camera's focus (?) during the photographing process makes the image unclear, and it is difficult to comment on the details. However, similar stylised drawings are preserved in the sketches and consistent with Antonina Ivanova's practice in the pre-revolutionary period and the 1920s.
