On the back of the photograph is an inscription in russian, written in blue ballpoint pen: "Ivanova A. M. Woman bathing. 1920 Kyiv". The Gallery's collection includes the original of this work, executed in tempera on plywood. However, it has an inscription indicating a different date of execution – 1925, which, in our opinion, is the basis for further research with adjustments to the dating of either the original or the photograph from Antonina Ivanova's archive. Stylistically, the work shows influences from the monumental art of ancient Egypt and iconographic practices. However, the dominant characteristics are visual, defining the formal and figurative approach inherent in the circle of Mykhailo Boichuk's artists.
