Object description
The russian-language inscription on the back of the photograph, written in blue ballpoint pen, reads: "Ivanova A.M. Bowl. Faience. 1929 Moscow". The photograph shows a watercolour (?) sketch on paper (similar graphic sheets, probably from the same period, are in Antonina Ivanova's archive). The indication of the material from which the object would have been made does not indicate what was photographed. The photograph shows defects and deformations typical of paper in the lower part of the photograph along the edge. The style of the artistic solution of the product is obviously related to folk art. It corresponds to the aesthetics of the ceramic products made by the authors of Mykhailo Boichuk's circle (for example, the painted faience products of Oleksandr Myzin from the late 1920s, in particular, the plates from 1927 from the collection of the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art). Oleksandr Myzin, like Antonina Ivanova, moved to Moscow and from 1936 to the end of his life, he taught from time to time at the Moscow Art Institute named after V. Surikov but worked mainly in the field of monumental art (Dictionary of Ukrainian Artists. Kyiv, 1973. P. 150).
